On the downside of January 2023 already! Time passes so quickly. Our lives go by in the blink of an eye and that dash between the dates is awfully short.
As you wake up each morning
imagine a bright blue sky
with a beautiful day before you
for it goes in the blink of an eye
I know! I know! It wasn’t long ago that I wrote about this very subject. Someone had just pointed out the ‘dash’ on every headstone. And, it strikes home more so as I grow older. I’ve always believed that life is to be lived – every minute; every hour; every day. I know some become overly cautious as the years go by, reluctant to do things and afraid to take chances. Oh but to reach the point of death safely! And then there are others who pay no attention to age, keeping active and having fun with every waking breath. Now don’t you just love that? I do!
A well known Indian mystic and guru, known best as Sadhguru, often speaks of attitude and the impact it will have on your whole being. Listen to someone who speaks of long dreary days which are painful to endure – not physical pain but filled with mental anguish. Quite often it can be the product of things long past – it’s done and over but there’s a determination to hold it fast. Or, perhaps there are things over which you have absolutely no control or even imaginings of things that may never happen. Life lived in the misery of ones own mind will seem endless. On the other hand, just think back when you were busy and totally enjoying yourself. A day went by so quickly and you hated for it to end. That describes the attitude of a person who takes hold of life as it was meant to be. The dash between the dates, albeit all too short, takes on the beauty of a life well lived. The most amazing thing is that each person has the ability to make the choice between happiness or misery. Why do so many choose the latter, I wonder?
I can still hear my mother say,
“Never wish your time away!”
You can’t hold on to time. That wheel keeps turning for everyone and it is beyond your power to do anything about it. What you can do is treat it as precious and enjoy every minute!
These are words to live by.
Have a tremendous day, Beulah!
