I was so excited when I woke this morning for snowflakes were falling gently and everything was so peaceful. Even the air breathed it. You see that’s the thing about “Hope!”
“I won’t be able to stay with you forever,” she said. It was right out of the blue. She had a habit of doing that – starting with little sound bites and always in mid sentence. We’d have to figure out the first part, and sometimes the last, on our own. So began the story of “The Gifts”…
“Over the past little while I have given some thought to the things I want you to have – things of value that you can hold dear to your heart, things that will never grow old and never wear out.
~ Not material things for those can be taken away, lost or left behind and would only weigh you down as you travel on your journey. Instead, I want to give you the most precious things that will hold you up and see you through every pathway you take, every mountain you climb, every storm you weather.
“These gifts are given freely. Each one is yours, and yours alone. You can do with it as you choose. Hold it close. Nurture it. Let it flourish. Share it freely with others for there will always be enough. Just be careful not to treat it lightly for it is a treasure. “
All the pieces of your life,
everything you have ever done,
everything you will ever do,
every person you have ever touched,
are your legacy.
The pieces move together to make you whole.
You are strong. You are loved.
You are appreciated.
You deserve the best.
As she sat in her chair, pouring over old photos and papers, she quietly gave me my first gift.

beauty and hope,
the love of wonder and
