Really! How in the world could I have missed it! I scrambled to look at my calendar, dug through the pantry to find some, knocked over a bottle of peppermint and stopped in my tracks! Every day is a day to celebrate but – POPCORN?
I obviously don’t get out much and appear to be missing out on so many celebrations. So I decided I should do a bit of research to see what the rest of the world is doing. Well now, January’s calendar alone set me back on my heels:
Penguin Awareness Day
National Cheese Lovers Day
National Disc Jockey Day
National Coffee Break Day
International Day of Awareness
Cancer Talk Week
New Years Day
National Popcorn Day
Hunt for Happiness Week
Week of Prayer for Christian Unity
National Slow Cooking Month
National Hangover Day
National Keto Day
Polar Bear Plunge Day
World Day of Peace
World Introvert Day
National Winnie The Pooh Day
So funny that this was spinning around in my mind when I picked up my pen this morning. CBC radio was on in the background and I heard the DJ’s talk about today, January 20th. It is National Disc Jockey Day. Who knew!
I guess the bottom line is, “I need to get out more.” Or at the very least create a calendar to ensure I am in touch. Perhaps it all sounds a little corny – to celebrate popcorn or cheese lovers or whatever.
“No! Not corny to me. It sounded perfect for every new day is a day to celebrate.”
Today it is my turn. My kitchen and pantry have the most wonderful aroma sweeping through the air – Peppermint and Mint. I’ve decided it warrants recognition and so I will create a new slot on the calendar.
National Peppermint Day!
Yup! It’s January 20th and time for me to take things seriously.
I’ve just gotta get out more.
It’s really all about little things!
Today’s Quote
“Are you sure you can hear me?” she asked.
She would often talk to herself and find answers even when she didn’t know somebody was listening.”

Your house must smell lovely! lol. Yes, celebrate every day!!
It’s great to wake up to a bit of humour when you’re not feeling well. Love your stories.
You are awesome, as always! ❤️ You need therapy, but you are still awesome!!! And you need a more concise calendar …. Did you not know that today is National Housework Avoidance Day? 😁
Suzanne, I don’t mind celebrating that one at all!!! 😊
I came home from my Pilates class dreading the housework facing me and when I read this I gave a resounding “YES” and am now settling in to a Housework Avoidance Day.
Save a few Peppermints for Summer Time, a favourite. Interesting to follow.
It’s a perfect day Beulah- I’m nursing my peppermint plant you gave me this past summer- it’s still alive and providing yummy peppermint tea! Lot’s to celebrate here- a wonderful friendship, a surviving plant and a refreshing cup of tea! Thank you my friend!!
I think we should have a Beulah National Day…. Positive Thinking Day!
Love Mike and Ruby
Well now! I don’t know about all those celebrations of all these different things on different days! I don’t know how we would keep up with it all lol! I must say quite interesting though!! But!, definitely a good for thought! I’d say, We pick out a couple that speaks to us & give it some serious thought!
As always Beulah, I love your stories! Until the next time, I will ponder which day I will give some serious consideration 🤔
i’d suggest staying in more just to smell the peppermint lol. It can be nasty out, in more ways than one. I love your stories, humor, and kind spirit that shines in all you do !! I agree with Mike & Ruby we need a Beulah Day. Wela’lin xo
