I’ve been sittin’ here tryin’

to get the message through…

See, you’re older than me

even if just by a few!

Buckley decided to have a vote

on who might be cuter

… but he just asked his goat.

So his tally is useless

though you reared him up fine.

He just can’t distinguish

from the end of his line.

Now don’t you get grumpy

and be givin’ that frown

Cute isn’t important
unless you’re a clown

And age doesn’t matter

unless you’re a tree.

And always! Yes, always!

You’ll be older than me.

You’re older (not wiser)

you have to admit

You just can’t compete

on the age – not a bit.

Now what is the point
of this nonsense I speak
but just to add laughter
on Tuesday this week.

Older, cuter and wiser

with each passing year

But nothing is better

than the friendship we share.

Ruby, I don’t keep in contact near enough but you are never far from my thoughts and always close in my heart.

February 17th is marked on my calendar in bright red ink as a reminder that thoughts alone are not enough today. After all, it’s your birthday

Time is the currency of life!
