Each of us will gather friends throughout the years. Some will have been there from the beginning and earn a ‘forever’ place in our hearts. Others will enter our lives for just a short while because of time and circumstance. Among the lot, if we are fortunate, there will be some who will be special.
While we would love to think otherwise, not everyone holds the title. Truth be told, special people are rare. Gentle in spirit, taking things in stride and giving with their hearts – beautiful inside. They have the ability to see beyond the surface and know, intuitively, how to cut to the chase. There is a depth of understanding. They stop to listen and they hear what is said in the spaces between the words. Despite any harsh reality and speaking always from the heart, there is a gentleness that gives hope and reassurance when it is needed most.
Special people are the most precious.
I am among the lucky for I am blessed with a number of very special people in my life. My sisters, a wonderful auntie and several close friends wear the title perfectly. Each one offers something unique, whether it is a shoulder to cry on or to bring smiles when smiles are exactly what I need. Sometimes it is to share news whether good or bad. They hold my hand and hold me up when I am about to fall. They guide, inspire, comfort and light up my life with laughter.
Special people bring warmth to the world with their presence.
And as I write, I am hoping that you have special people who also walk with you.
