The Lonely Apple

Now it might seem a little pathetic to you but to me – I saw POTENTIAL. So what to do but get out the pressure canner and get started.  Seriously!  It is that time of year when I just want to prepare and store things up for the winter.

BUT it’s a 22 quart cooker!

This year, I managed to grow 3 zucchini, 2 green peppers, 3 garlic bulbs, a worm-eaten onion, enough potatoes for 2 meals and a lonely apple.  Ready to claim bragging rights yet, you think?

Picture it! Ten Years from now
The BoBo Collection 2032! There’ll be enough to fill that pot!

In the meantime, all is not lost for this year.  Thank goodness for thoughtful people.   I was so excited when my sister brought me some cabbage leaves from a nearby farm.  I made cabbage rolls, of course.

I also managed to make some “Zesty Zucchini Relish” out of this year’s crop.  I actually had enough for 3 jars (1/4 pint each).  Then I took it to my sisters to sample … bad move.  But that’s a whole other story for another time.

And soon it will be Fall

Only a few more days and the summer season will come to a close and Fall will begin. I love the changing of the seasons. Don’t you?  I find it breaks up the year in bite-size pieces so there’s never a chance of getting tired or bored with the ‘what is’.  But best of all, is Autumn. It is then that the magic begins.

Everything is more beautiful in the Fall of the year.
From daybreak to dusk the colours change
making the fantastic believable
and the impossible true.

Thoughts for Today

“Give yourself permission to enjoy this moment without analysis.
Let go of uncertainty, regret and fear.
Hold tenderly those you love and who love you for they are your greatest treasures.

Every moment is precious.
There’s not always a ‘next time’
even when the journey seems to have only just begun.

Even a lonely apple should be enjoyed!

A bountiful harvest, Beulah. My Zucchini grew about 2-3 inches and died. Who knew you need a male plant to satisfy the female plants so they could grow. 🤪🤷‍♀️

  2. A nice harvest Beulah and promises of things to come. I have a lonely apple too, but the tree is flourishing, so hopefully next year a bountiful harvest! I like your blogs, keep writing..🌹🌹
