Toutin or Pizza Dough
Ingredients
Toutins
1 cup lukewarm water
1 tbsp sugar
1 tbsp yeast (instant dry)
1 tbsp cooking oil
1 egg (beaten)
1/2 tsp salt
2 to 3 cups flour

Pizza Dough
3/4 cup warm water
1 tbsp olive oil
1/2 tsp salt
1 tsp garlic powder (optional)
1 tsp baking powder
2 cups flour

Directions (for toutins)
Add sugar, yeast and salt in large mixing bowl; pour in water; add oil and egg and whisk quickly. Add ½ cup flour and whisk until smooth. Continue adding flour beating after each addition. (Add flour until mixture is too heavy for mixing. Begin kneading process adding sprinkle of flour as needed. Knead until smooth and satiny (count to 30 or 40 MINIMUM). Grease sides and bottom of bowl with a few drops of oil and knead through. Turn dough over, punch down; cover and leave to rise until doubled (about 20 minutes to ½ an hour). Shape into toutins and fry in butter
Directions (for Pizza Dough)
Combine dry ingredients in a large mixing bowl. Add oil using a fork to mix through as much as possible. Add warm water and mix until it clings together (add more flour if it’s too wet; add more water if too dry). Knead with your hands until the batter is smooth and shiny. Shape into a ball, cover and let rest for 20 minutes. Roll out to desired pizza size. Top with your favourite toppings and bake at 400° for 20 minutes
Tip: You can also use yeast in the pizza dough instead of baking powder.
