The fun in life is in the turns we take
For each path brings us something new
It’s how we handle it and it’s the letting go
that makes the difference in what we do.
Sometimes we come to a fork in the road
not sure to turn left or turn right
We know that nothing will be the same again
and no guideposts within our site.
Take a rest when you reach that fork in the road
Get rid of the load on your back
Take your time and be sure to think things through
Then be brave and head out on your track.
You’ll need strength and purpose to push ahead
But don’t waiver, you’re going the right way.
There’s no turning back. The timing is right.
And it doesn’t make sense to stay
“My cousin had thought about this for years. When would she be ready to move from the city she loved and called home for all of her adult life. The idea was, of course, to relocate to the other side of the country to be close to her children and grandchildren. Without a doubt, she was sure she would know when the time was right. After years of pondering, her decision was made one day recently when she walked around the Pond. Big decision! But, in that moment, she knew. Within a few short weeks, her belongings were packed, sold, given away or thrown away depending on what made the most sense for each item. Her house sold quickly and she was off. More than 6,100 km – now that’s a long trek. Taking her time she visited family and friends along the way enjoying each leg of the journey. Two weeks later she arrived. So starts another chapter.”
Throughout our lifetime, each of us will reach major intersections and have to decide which road, which direction. Sometimes decisions are made quickly and without much thought. Other times it can be a struggle.
“Retirement was on the horizon just a little farther down the road so he thought. But to contend with one intolerable person made it no longer practical to wait.
He sat in silence but there were voices from within. He had contemplated this next phase of his life for so long and then there was that moment when he knew it was time!”
Isn’t it amazing how life takes such twists and turns, how doors open and close, how people enter and leave, how interests come and go … You turn the page and realize the time left is much less than the time before. Somehow you just know when the time is right to make that mammoth decision that will change your path. A new chapter begins and your journey continues.
A Warm Welcome from a Stranger
It was Sunday morning and I slipped quietly into one of the back pews at church. I’d been there before and had met the Minister a number of times but the members of the congregation were strangers. There was a woman sitting in the pew next to me and she turned with a welcoming smile asking if I was new here. After exchanging a few pleasantries and joking that it seems like everyone prefers to sit in the back, I settled in to enjoy the service. At the end and as I was preparing to leave, the woman reached out to hand me a small slip of paper. “Here’s my number, call me and we’ll go for a coffee.”
Now that is special.

Oh Beulah! ❤️ You never cease to amaze me. “When the time is right” may very well be your most insightful writing. It is true for us all, but no one else can put it into words like you. XO
Thank you! XO right back to you.
Thank you for your comments! It means so much when I hear from each of you and to know you have enjoyed my stories. It is your encouragement that keeps me writing.
I never know what my story will be until I sit to write and then the words spill out – all jumbled at first with snippets of thoughts here and there. By the time I finish, I stop and wonder if it is even something that will be of interest to others. When I push the “publish” button, it is always with trepidation and yet with some degree of satisfaction because there was so much enjoyment in the writing. It’s really all about little things afterall.
My very best to all of you,
Beulah
