Where the River Ends

It was huge – a mysterious beauty with wings.  The branch did not do justice for something so majestic as she sat in the rain where the river ends.

It is the little things that happen now and then.  For three hours she was there.  There was some light that guided to that special place, to perch and stay.

Was it rest she was seeking?  Was there something that she knew or some small wonder that made her sit so still?  Alone.

How sweet when weary and hard pressed to come upon a branch and rest awhile.

I quietly watched and as if knowing she turned, spread her wings, and gracefully glided away.

Then gently as the evening came, there was a stillness and a sense of peace.  And, as the lamp glowed, there was a welcome where the river ends.

  1. As I started to read this I envisioned you building an ark! I’m thinking OMY GOD! There’s so much rain falling is it really that bad out? As I’m housebound especially on days like these, you definitely captured my thoughts & without looking to see what was in the picture, I’m thinking a bird of some species had taken a rest or shelter; & boom, just like that, I realized it was a bird 🦅! So up on further investigation (she scans the picture) & viola!!! There she is the beautiful 🦅 😊. Thank you my beautiful friend for once again capturing my imagination with your writings! I was totally there with you! Loved it! ❤️

    1. Thank you! What fun reading your comments! I never know what you are going to say. You really do have to look for the eagle but I had watched as she pitched on that branch and stayed for three solid hours.

  2. Nature, whether it’s animals, birds, plants, water etc is the most amazing thing to see, hear, feel, touch and smell. It is an “all-in” sensory experience that we are very blessed to be part of. The more we are part of it, the more questions we ask, more stories we create and the more connectedness we “feel”. Thank you for sharing.
