Cod au Gratin – another wonderful way to serve fish
Cod au Gratin
Ingredients
1-2 lbs cod fillets (chopped) 1 onion (finely chopped) ½ cup bread crumbs ½ cup grated cheese
White Sauce: 1/4 cup melted margarine 1/4 cup flour ½ tsp salt 1 tsp pepper 1 tsp worcestershire sauce 1 cup milk
Directions
To prepare sauce, add flour to melted margarine to form a smooth paste; add remaining ingredients, stirring well. Simmer until thickened.
Place cod pieces in a greased 9x9x2″ casserole dish, cover with onions. Pour sauce over fish and sprinkle with bread crumbs. Bake at 325⁰ for approximately 30 minutes. Sprinkle cheese on top and return to oven until melted.
