My sister LOVES ribs. Over the years she came up with this recipe (her own) which she shared with me a couple of days ago. While I like ribs, I am not fussy about all the grease. Until now, I avoided them for that very reason. But check out this recipe for it is not only delicious but it takes care of all that old grease in the first step of the cooking process.
Slow Cooker Ribs
Ingredients:
2 pork side ribs
1 pk onion soup mix
2 cloves garlic
2 cups boiling water
Smokey BBQ Sauce (enough to baste)
Directions:
Pour boiling water into slow cooker and add soup mix and garlic. Cut meat into individual ribs and place in slow cooker. Cook on high setting for 4 hours.
Preheat oven to 375°. Using slotted spoon, remove ribs from cooker being careful to allow all grease to drain off. Spread ribs on a baking sheet (lined with parchment). Baste generously (smother it) with the BBQ sauce and bake for 15 minutes until BBQ sauce carmelizes a little.
TIP: Make your life just a little easier by using your favourite (store-bought) BBQ sauce. But if you decide to do your own and you like ‘smokey’ flavour, be sure to add some liquid smoke to your recipe.
I just might try this someday!,
